Sheets, Pages, & Sets
These terms can be confusing, and understanding them will reduce confusion and ensure that you receive your order correctly the first time.
Sheets
A sheet is a single, flat piece of paper used for printing. Sheets come in various sizes and weights, and are often sold in packs or reams. The size of a sheet is typically determined by the dimensions of the finished product and the printing press it will be printed on.
Pages
A page is one side of a sheet of paper that contains printed content. A printed document can have multiple pages, which are often numbered for easy navigation. When designing a document, it's important to consider the number of pages, as this affects the layout and pagination.
Sets
A set refers to a group of sheets that are printed together to create a multi-page document. Sets are often collated our bound together using various binding methods, such as stapling, saddle-stitching, and spiral binding. For example, a 16-page booklet might be printed on four sheets of paper, with four pages printed on each side of each sheet. The pages would then be arranged in the proper order on each sheet, and the sheets would be folded and cut to create the final booklet. In this case, each set would consist of four pages arranged in the proper order for printing and imposition.
